If you are a diver who dives more as a way of life than as a hobby, then the Suunto D6 is the perfect dive computer for you. With the D6 wrist dive computer you will be able to record information on each dives direction traveled, maximum depth, time at depth, and decompression information, all from a easy to read display.

The D6 uses Suunto’s RGBM algorithm, with allows you to make multiple stops during your dive instead of the traditional safety stop. This allows you to extend your bottom time while still being very safe.

Know exactly where you’re going, even if you leave your compass at home. The D6 digital compass will keep you in the right direction whether it be under water or above the surface.

It also comes equipped with 3 dive modes. Good old Air , Nitrox from 21 to 100%, and Gauge mode for use as a bottom timer or depth gauge for free divers, making it ideal for any diver.

A Quick Video Review of The Suunto D6

Below is a quick video review of the Suunto D6 dive computer and some of its features. In the beginning of the video he says D9, but the computer being displayed is actually a D6. Enjoy!

The Good VS The BAD

The Good

Small, Compact and Stylish - weighing only 4 oz you will hard notice it’s there, unlike other wrist dive computers. It also, looks stylish to wear as an every day watch which many dive computer cannot pull off.

Digital Compass – Makes for easy navigation on your dives, even if you leave your dive compass at home. The compass feature a graphical compass rose and can be locked on a bearing with arrows pointing to the bearing so you can stay on course.

Three Dive Modes – The D6 easily changes form standard Air to Nitrox or Gauge mode if you only want to use it as a bottom timer. In Nitrox mode you can switch between two different gas mixes which make it perfect for more technical diving.

Optional PC interface – So you can download and log all your dives

The Bad

No user changeable batteries – to change the batteries you would need to take the computer to the nearest dealer.

Not Air Integrated - The D6 is not Air Integrated so it will not tell you air pressure. However, the D9 is wireless air integrated.

What other Diver’s Had To Say About The Suunto D6 Dive Computer

By Montevallia from Somerset, New Jersey
Bought the item for a diving trip to Cozumel. It worked beautifully and was easy to understand. The manual could be a little better with larger print and clearer pictures of the part of the computer that the manual is trying to explain. A few things that puzzled me on my first dive had a lot more to do with my lack of experience as a diver than a problem with the computer. Since I set the depth and time way too conservatively at the beginning, the D6 was beeping at me like crazy, but after I adjusted the setting to something more realistic to the environment I was diving in, it “behaved” better. LOL!! I would definitely recommend this computer to anyone who is looking for a stylish, great looking, not HUGE (big though), reliable and reputable diving computer. I can’t wait to take it to Rio de Janeiro in a couple of weeks.

This will be my back up to the console version. Since it is the same Suunto version, I have the utmost confidence that it will never fail. Would recommend this plus buy again.

I enjoy having a great functioning dive computer, also it looks good on the wrist.Having the added piece of mind knowing leisure pro, will stand behind this product if something should go wrong is reassuring.

Have you ever spent a dive staring at your computer instead of looking at everything in the water all because your computer is hard to read? The XR-2's enlarged digits, easy-to-read icons, and split screen take the guesswork out of reading your dive computer. Also, the XR-2 allows you to decide what informationdisplays; now you can customize the display to include only the things you want to keep an eye on during your dives.

Have you ever heard your dive buddies talking about what they saw on the dive, and you can’t because you were to busy trying to read your dive computer the entire dive? The Aeris XR-2 enlarge digits, easy-to-read icons, and split screen will take the guess work out of reading your dive computer.

The XR-2 has a cool feature that lets you decide which information it display. You can customize the display to include only the information you want to see on your dive. No more shifting through menus to find the information you want.

The XR-2 is an air, nitrox or gauge mode computer, has backlighting for low visibility and night dives, and incorporates audible alarms with flashing LED warning light so you don’t have to watch your computer the entire dive.

Variable ascent rate indicator will keep you safe upon ascent and slow you down progressively as you head to the surface.

Safety stop timer will give you the ability to include the all important 15 ft safety stop which is recommended by all instructional agencies.

If you are in the market for a small, but still easy-to-read dive computer that is compatible with air and nitrox, look no further than the AERIS XR-2. The AERIS XR-2 is an ideal, user-friendly diving computer for those who prefer wrist-mounted computer gear.

Notice
By the way, You can get the Aeris Xr-2 for the best price online Here

Why is everyone talking about the Aeris XR-2?

Easy-to-Read Digits. Everything about the dive computer’s display panel can be summarized in one word: OVERSIZED. Charts, words, numbers and icons are large enough, especially for those who encounter trouble reading regular-sized figures underwater and for divers cruising low visibility conditions. The figures are easy to interpret too and that makes the XR-2 really user friendly.

Convenient Buttons. When on a dive, you are most probably wearing thick neoprene, sports gloves. Despite being outfitted with an Amara palm, thick gloves never work well with small buttons. With the XR-2 , you won’t have to fumble with hard-to-reach buttons again because of its conveniently-located and easy-to-press buttons.

Nitrox-Compatible Settings. For Nitrox users, this scuba equipment is a literal breath of fresh air since you can program the device for Nitrox mixes at a range of 21% to 50% (Oxygen proportion), so that upgrading from Air to Enriched Air use won’t require the purchase of another dive computer.

Integrated Safety Prompts. Reminders for safety stops, available dive times, decompression stops and likewise for the 24-hour recommended surface interval can be activated to set off audible or visual alarms, or both-your scuba gear, your choice.

Precise Readings. Calculations are based on actual dive time and depth reached so that decompression statistics are automatically re-calculated in reference to changing data. This resets the limits of a square dive and extends bottom time for the scuba diver.

Record-keeping options. Despite its compact construction, the XR-2 is one storage powerhouse. Record up to 240 dive profiles in your dive computer for easy and quick viewing or interface the device with a PC to download and log dive records in a personal computer.

Automatic Activation Options. The XR-2 is programmed to automatically power-on as you hit the water. Automatic activation is an additional safety functionality of this neat piece of scuba equipment.

Good VS BAD

The Good

User-replaceable batteries – No need to send in the computer to change batteries. Now you can do it right on spot.

PC Downloadable – Download all your dives to your PC for easy access anytime you want.

Backlight – This makes the computer easy to read during low light or bad visibility.

Audible alarm with flashing LED warning light – To let you know when you are exceding your limits or accending too fast.

Safety stop count-down timer -So you know exactly when to accend.

Customize the information presented during a dive with a press of a button – See only the information you want to see

The Bad

The AERIS XR-2 wrist Computer is not air Integrated

Has no built in digital compass

The Puck Sports a single button to scroll through menu option, which alleviates the feeling that if you hit the wrong button you might screw something up.

It also has larger digits that makes it very easy to read, as well as back-light on demand for low visibility conditions or night dives.

It utilizes a conservative algorithm for an even larger margin of safety, this is perfect for entry level divers or divers how are very conservative. However, there are two “personal correction” settings to make the computer more liberal.

Notice
By the way, You can get the Mares Puck for The BEST PRICE Online Here

So What Makes The Mares Puck So Easy To Use

The guys over at SimplyScuba.com put together a great video review of the Mares Puck Dive Computer.

The Good VS The BAD

The Good

Easy to use – Ever wonder which button to press on your computer to get to a certain feature? Well the single button feature on the puck will take the guess work out of which button to press, because there is only one button on the dive computer.

Conservative - This is great for beginner divers because there is a greater safety cushion.

Back-light – The screen is back lit on demand for dive at night or in low visibility.

Large Digits – No need to squint to see whats on your computer. Every vital information is in large digits and can be read at a glance.

Audio and Visible alarms – Who wants to spend there entire dive looking at there dive computer.

The Bad

It is not Air Integrated – You can get the console version here

Conservative – Although a conservative computer can be great if you are a beginner, It may give you a shorter bottom time than more liberal dive computers.

What Other Divers Had to Say About the Mares Puck

The reviews below were taken from Leisurepro.com and rewritten for uniqueness.

By soev from Vancouver, Canada on 11/4/2010
Great little computer with a lot to it and simple one-button scroll through. The one drawback is that there doesn’t appear to be a way to track your surface interval in the ‘logbook’ menu without calculating it yourself from dive times and times entered into the water.
This was my first computer and I have used it on about 25 dives, including my advanced open water training. My gear is a mixed bag of several brands and I did not initially have a computer in my gauge package, so this wrist mounted pc is great.
As I always say in reviews read, read, read and try to run through the functions on dry land.
It has settings for audible alarms which sometimes bug other divers LOL and increased safety factors for the algorithim.
Once I learned how to use it, I love it.
I wish the product had the digital instruction now advertised when I was learning to use.
Guess having an experienced dive buddy to run some questions through would have been helpful, but ultimately this was easy!
